How to Built a Webpage with help of AI

Summer is a fantastic time for fun and relaxation, but for my young son, it’s also a period to brush up on his multiplication skills. Like many kids his age, memorizing the multiplication tables from 1 to 9 can be a challenging yet essential part of his education. To make this process more engaging and interactive, I decided to create a web-based tool that would allow him to practice multiplication in a friendly and supportive online environment.

The Idea

The core idea was simple: develop a webpage where he could input the number of equations he wanted to practice, specify the range of numbers (from minimum to maximum), and then solve these equations with immediate feedback. This interactive element would not only aid in his learning but also add an element of fun to his studies.

Seeking Help from AI

While I had a clear vision of what I wanted, my programming skills were not up to the task of bringing this project to life on my own. That’s where OpenAI’s ChatGPT came into play. I explained my requirements to the AI, detailing the need for a simple yet functional webpage that could generate random multiplication questions and verify the answers.

ChatGPT was incredibly helpful, providing the complete HTML, CSS, and JavaScript code necessary to build the website. The AI’s instructions were clear and precise, making the development process straightforward for someone like me, who has limited coding experience.

Choosing the Right Platform

Given that my current WordPress plan doesn’t support hosting external web applications directly, I needed a solution that could host my website for free. Following the recommendation from ChatGPT, I chose Netlify—a remarkable platform known for its simplicity and effectiveness in deploying web projects. The deployment process on Netlify was a breeze; I connected my GitHub repository where my project was stored, and with just a few clicks, my site was live.

The Final Product

I am excited to share the result of this project: Multiplication Practice. This webpage is a testament to what technology can achieve when combined with a little creativity and a lot of heart. My son can now practice multiplication, tailor the difficulty to his learning pace, and get immediate feedback on his answers.

Reflections

This project was not just about helping my son learn; it was also a learning curve for me. I delved into areas of technology that were previously unfamiliar to me and came out with a deeper understanding and appreciation for the tools that are shaping our future.

Invitation to Try

I encourage all parents who want to make learning fun and accessible for their children to try out the website. It’s a simple tool, but it represents so much more—the potential of AI to assist in educational endeavors and the joy of building something meaningful for someone you love.
